Ponchik's PURR: Funded Wallets, Airdrop Tickets That Stayed Put, a Quiet Retreat
Ponchik launched PURR on Algorand in February 2024, funded reward and marketing wallets, and issued 3,000 airdrop tickets. Most tickets remain with the creator, and reward and marketing wallets went quiet in November 2024; its asset record shows empty freeze and clawback roles.

A cat coin that pays to spay, neuter, treat and feed stray cats is the kind of thing worth wanting to exist. Ponchik set out to be it: an Algorand token, PURR, launched on 2 February 2024 around a mascot cat of the same name, with a whitepaper1 that allots half the supply to the NFT holders who would pay for the work, and a foundation attached to spend on cats.
What the record shows is a build-out, then a stop. The two promises its pages made most loudly are the two that left least trace: the airdrop tickets mostly never left the creator's wallet, and the foundation page that asked for donations printed no address to give to in either of its archived captures.
That is worth reading today because PURR is still here and, in the thinnest of senses, still trading. What follows is what the project built, what it promised, and where the record stops.
What the team set out to do
The project's site2 lists a five-person team — the cat mascot, a founder billed as 'Founder, Webmaster and Foundation CEO3', a co-founder, an NFT creator and a Discord manager — alongside a Ponchik Foundation running feeding, spay/neuter and treatment programmes. The whitepaper sets the split at '50%4 Airdrop for NFT Holders', 30% liquidity, 10% rewards, 5% team, 4% marketing and a 1%5 mini airdrop, and the tokenomics page6 renders the same numbers as a chart.
The roadmap7 put dates on it: Ponchik born in July 2023, verified by Pera on 11 January 2024, an NFT sold on 22 January for participation in a '50%8 airdrop', a community vote on liquidity pools on 31 January, launch on 2 February, and staking and farming on Cometa from 5 February.
The wallets they named, funded and used
Under its own Algorand name, ponchik.algo, the project issued three sub-names — liquidity, reward and marketing — and each sits in a different wallet today. The creator account funded them from the supply: 10,000,0009 PURR to the reward wallet on launch day, 4,000,00010 PURR to the marketing wallet four days later.
They were used. The reward wallet kept moving PURR outward into 2024, including 2,000,00011 PURR to the liquidity wallet in March, and its newest transaction is dated 18 November 2024. The liquidity wallet's newest transaction is 24 June 2025. The reward wallet also deployed three applications of its own, and the one whose state is visible holds four values whose purpose the chain does not state.
None of this is remarkable for a funded token project, but it is more than a joke coin usually does, and it is the fair thing to say first.
The airdrop that did not visibly land
The roadmap says the NFT 'sold' on 22 January 2024. The ticket was an asset called Ponchik Airdrop, 3,00012 units, meant to mark who would share in the airdrop allocation. Of those 3,00013, 2,77414 are still held by the creator account; the other 78 wallets hold 226 between them.
The wallets that bought the most tickets are the plainest evidence. The largest holds 30 units and, on the token's holder records, less than a hundredth of one PURR; the second largest holds 20 and none at all.
The record therefore does not show the airdrop reaching the ticket holders. It does not show it being withheld either; it stops short of both. The large PURR movements in April 2024 that look like a payout are not one — they are inner transactions of swaps routed through an exchange contract, not a distribution.
The charity never had a public door
An archived Ponchik Foundation page15, captured on 25 May 2024 and again on 5 October, describes spay/neuter, medical treatment and food programmes, asks for donations, and marks its only fundraising section, 'NFTs for a Purpose', as 'Coming Soon…'. Neither capture prints a wallet address or a total raised.
The domain the coin's own Donate button pointed at no longer resolves, and the archive's own index of it runs only from 17 May 2024 to 24 January 2025. A visitor today has no route to give, and no record shows money reaching a cat. None shows it failing to, either; the absence of a public way to give is the finding, and it is enough.
A charity page becomes checkable the moment it prints one address and a running tally, or it names a clinic that will confirm the work. This one did neither, so its care for cats cannot be weighed at all, only its intention.
The retreat, in dates
- 2024-01-01: Creator wallet opened with 247.94 ALGO.
- 2024-02-02: PURR launches; first transfer on chain.
- 2024-02-06: Marketing wallet funded with 4,000,000 PURR.
- 2024-11-18: Reward and marketing wallets' last transactions.
- 2025-01-21: Creator clears its own ponchik.algo name assets.
- 2025-01-24: Foundation site's last archived capture.
- 2025-06-24: Liquidity wallet's last transaction.
The marketing and reward wallets both went quiet on 18 November 2024. On 21 January 2025, between 15:46:38 and 15:46:47, the creator closed out its own holdings of the three name assets, handing them back to the contracts that issued them. The liquidity wallet's last transaction came in June 2025.
When the team last posted is not established: the project's X account16 could not be read on 26 October 2026, and the Internet Archive holds no capture of it. No source gives a reason for the wind-down, and the piece leaves it where the record does.
What is left
The market that remains is small: about $93817 of market value and about $0.1018 of volume across four swaps on 26 October 2026, with roughly $355 sitting in a pool Tinyman marks verified.
One promise held. PURR's asset record shows an empty freeze role and an empty clawback role, and a cleared role can never be set again, so nobody can freeze a holder's PURR or move it out of their wallet. The manager and reserve roles sit with the creator account; the reserve has no power over holders, and the manager can only point those two roles at a different address, so the freeze and clawback powers cannot be restored.
Both records are public: the asset's role settings, and where the tickets sit.
