Lumi Rogue v0.21 Brings NFT-Gated Dungeons to Algorand

A Roguelike Built on Algorand’s Layer-1 Tokenization
Lumi Rogue is a browser-based roguelike dungeon crawler that runs entirely on Algorand’s layer-1 tokenization. Players connect a wallet—Pera, Defly, or Lute—to enter the dungeon, where NFTs from guest collections and a dedicated Ankh series act as keys. Algorand’s Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus delivers single-block finality, eliminating the probabilistic settlement delays that can disrupt NFT-gated mechanics on other chains. Because the game uses Algorand Standard Assets (ASAs) instead of smart contracts for token-gating, players avoid the gas fees and contract risks associated with Ethereum-based alternatives.
How NFTs Unlock the Dungeon
Lumi Rogue gates access through four distinct NFT collections, each with its own eligibility rule. The table below maps the collection to the real-world implication for players:
| Collection | Real-World Implication |
|---|---|
| Thicclings | Holders of this NFT collection can enter the dungeon without additional requirements. |
| Algorand ATH day | Players who made any transaction during Algorand’s all-time high (June 20–21, 2019) are eligible. |
| Monko | Holding 10,000,000 $monko tokens in the connected wallet grants access. |
| Ankh | A dedicated 1,000-item series; owning any Ankh NFT unlocks the dungeon. |
The Ankh collection, launched in July 2026, is traded on Downbad.farm, an Algorand NFT marketplace. As of August 5, 2026, the floor price sits at 60 ALGO, with only 4 of the 1,000 items listed for sale—indicating minimal liquidity. Players who purchase an Ankh but later stop playing may struggle to resell it.
Tokenomics: LUMI’s Centralized Supply
The project issues a native token, LUMI, with a total supply of 1 billion units (10^9 LUMI, 9 decimals). The creator wallet, HCWQTS5QTO4XOYNSAR2ZCJGVUOM5VXG2TJSVM4DOUANNFWZL5VGJOAO7UE, holds 78.6% of the supply, raising concerns about centralized control over future token utility or governance decisions. Despite the token’s existence, Lumi Rogue does not currently integrate LUMI into gameplay, staking, or rewards—its sole function is as an [ASA](/glossary/algorand-standard-asset "A built-in mechanism that allows anyone to create and issue new tokens (like stablecoins, utility tokens, or NFTs) directly on Algorand's base layer, ") identifier.
Community and Development Status
Lumi Rogue maintains a Discord server and a Bluesky profile for updates. The most recent version, v0.21, was live as of the site’s last snapshot, though no public roadmap or audit reports are available. The project’s reliance on guest collections and a single NFT series for access creates a dependency on external communities, which could limit adoption if those collections lose relevance.
